Carbon Dioxide Removal Ireland

Removing carbon, alongside cutting emissions, to bring Ireland to net zero.

A non-profit advocating for carbon removal as a necessary complement to emissions reduction — across policy, education, and community action.

Net zero needs both halves: emit less, and remove the rest.

Carbon Dioxide Removal Ireland (CDRi) is a non-profit advocating for carbon removal alongside emissions reduction, to help Ireland reach net zero. Cutting emissions remains the priority — but some emissions, from sectors that are hard to decarbonise, will remain. Reaching net zero means removing carbon from the atmosphere as well as releasing less of it.

We work to make that happen in Ireland across three areas: policy, education, and community action.

What we do

Three pillars.

  1. Policy

We advocate for robust, dynamic policies that build capacity and drive public and private investment — raising the technological and commercial readiness of diverse removal solutions, so Ireland can lead this emerging industry.

  2. Education

We raise awareness of the climate, economic, and technological benefits of carbon removal, and help policymakers evaluate removal methods by cost and environmental impact.

  3. Community Action

We engage stakeholders to find socially and environmentally beneficial participation in the carbon removal industry — supporting rural livelihoods and employment.
